Tuesday, June 28

This morning I walked .58 miles and did 5 minutes of yin yoga (slow stretching). I woke up with a pain in the right side of my neck, I'm sure it has something to do with how I slept.

I've had a full week of antibiotics. This morning I took the pill on an empty stomach, just to see if that works. So far, so good.

I heard from the doctor that the Teasel root combination is not a good choice. There is an herb in the blend (Annie's something?) that could interact with the antibiotic blood levels in my liver. I have no idea what that means, but I trust my doctor completely and she often prescribes homeopathic remedies or herbs, so it's not like she has an aversion to alternative medicine.

I'm still trying to restrict sugar, gluten and maybe dairy. But maybe not dairy. I love dairy. I could live on cheese and butter. And when my little guy was born, I gave up dairy for 8 months because he had a slight dairy allergy, which he grew out of. And when I was dairy free, I did NOT notice a real difference in how I felt, my skin, etc. So I feel like I can process it fairly well. So, maybe not dairy.

Timeline

I've created this blog to document my recovery from Lyme disease. I'm one of few people who actually saw the tick and got in early for treatment, so I hope this will be a short lived blog.

A timeline of events so far:

Weekend of June 11-12: Camping
Tuesday, June 14: Pulled a tiny (deer?) tick off my hip, bite mark went away in a day, no rash
Saturday, June 18: Attended a wedding, sound sensitivity and headache
Sunday, June 19: Headache
Monday, June 20: Woke with nausea, headache, too tired to do yoga, rash on my hip, saw doctor and was prescribed antibiotics (doxycycline), was incredibly sick that night, 102 fever, chills, achy body
Tuesday, June 21 - Monday, June 27: gradually start to feel better, but still many aches and pains in toes and jaw especially

Notes:
  • In addition to antibiotics, I've cut drastically back on the amount of sugar I consume and reduced the amount of gluten and alcohol I intake. Trying to follow an anti-inflammatory diet.
  • I've tried to keep moving a bit each day. Usually this means a very slow walk around the block (1/4 mile or so).
  • I've e-mailed my doctor about starting an herbal supplement, Teasel root, along with the antibiotic.
